Abstract
DILLA SALVADOR, Félix; HERNANDEZ VALDES, Armando and MARTINEZ RODRIGUEZ, José B.. Validity of Forchheimer binomial equation in convergent flow through porous media. RIHA [online]. 2012, vol.33, n.1, pp. 11-20. ISSN 1680-0338.
Flow behavior through porous media with parallel boundaries has been widely studied in the last five decades. Nevertheless, only few studies have been reported about flow behavior through porous media with converging boundaries, even less when flow does not obey Darcy's law. This work is based on experimental results through a convergent flow permeameter published by other authors recently. They concluded that the Forchheimer equation parameters change in converging flow. The objective here is to study non-Darcy steady converging flow and to show the validity of the Forchheimer equation under these flow conditions. An excellent graphical adjustment is obtained for different width ratios when all values of sections on the plane convergent model are used. This result shows that linear and non-linear parameters of a homogeneous porous media have one value not depending on flow conditions.
