Abstract

CORDOVA LOPEZ, Luis F.; HERNANDEZ VALDES, Kenia  and  BENITEZ CRISTIA, Héctor. Interaction between beaches and emerged breakwaters: comparison with submerged breakwaters. riha [online]. 2017, vol.38, n.1, pp. 72-85. ISSN 1680-0338.

To know the behavior of the interaction between the surf and the structures of coastal protection, as an alternative to use for the recovery of beaches, acquires every day greater importance. The present work evaluates the capacity of the mathematical model XBeach for simulating the interaction waves- emerged breakwaters, simulating the behavior of a group of hydrodynamic as well as morphological variables. The functional performance of emerged breakwaters is compared with submerged breakwaters.

Keywords : mathematical model; morphological processes; emerged and submerged breakwaters.
