Abstract

DE-LUNA-ALANIS, René Eduardo  and  GOMEZ-PEREZ, Carlos René. Effect of arc and pulse corrections on the geometry of 5083 aluminum joints welded with cold metal transfer. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2018, vol.21, n.2, pp. 68-76. ISSN 1815-5944.

The arc and pulse corrections of the cold metal transfer welding process modify the voltage and current. The effect of their combination has not been sufficiently studied on the joint geometry. The objective of the present work is to determinate the effect of the arc and pulse corrections and the welding speed of the cold metal transfer welding process on the 5083 aluminum joints geometries. For this, an experimental design is made, with three independent factors at two levels, using the geometric parameters of the unions as independent factors. The correction pulse function directly acts on the height and depth, while than the arc length correction function has inversely influence. Both functions do not manifest significant influence on the welding width. The welding speed inversely acts on the height, the width and the depth of the welding joint.

Keywords : arc correction; pulse correction; cold metal transfer; joint geometry.
