Abstract

ACOSTA CHAVEZ, Delia  and  CRUZ REYES, Jesús. Socio-economic Precariousness and Isolation of the Small Farmer in Ecuador Today. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.1, pp. 273-290.  Epub Sep 01, 2019. ISSN 2308-0132.

This paper examines agrarian relations in Latin America and in particular in Ecuador. An important place in this article is occupied by the Marxist conclusions about capitalist development in agriculture and the disappearance of the peasantry. Evidence shows the long persistence over time of semi-pedagogical agrarian relations that delayed capitalist development after the independence of Spanish colonialism in the region. Analyze the socio-economic precariousness of the peasantry and its low organizational unity. An association perspective is offered for these farmers taking the example of the agricultural cooperatives of the region.

Keywords : Marx; Engels; Lenin; small farmer; capitalism; Ecuador.
