Abstract

LOPEZ ESPINOSA, José Antonio. Las revistas médicas cubanas en la séptima década del siglo XIX. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2001, vol.27, n.1, pp. 58-65. ISSN 1561-3127.

When the Ten-Year War broke out the Cuban medical family was scattered. Many of its members looked for a safer life in other countries, others became heroes and went to the battle filed to fight for independence and all this brought about a partial gap in the development of medicine in the island. However, there were some Cuban physicians who at that time kept their interest on disseminating the then scientific literature production alive and were able to circulate magazines whose pages made medical-surgical achievements public. This paper reviews those magazines comprising a substantial part of the national medical bibliography which was published during the 70´s of the 19th century.
