This paper submits a proposal on the periodization by stages of the organization and development of the charity work in Cuba in the 19th century. The underlying reasons for the proposal which are based on relevant events from the political, social, economic, military and health organization viewpoints. Important events that characterized the charity activity in each of the proposed stages as well as the stages when charity reached its peak are also stated.
