Abstract

FRAGOSO FRAGOSO, Julio; MOLINA GOMEZ, Ana María  and  CAMINERO CHAVEZ, Valia. Insertion of Local History in the teaching of National History: an experience of the Medical University of Cienfuegos. Conrado [online]. 2023, vol.19, n.95, pp. 199-206.  Epub Dec 10, 2023. ISSN 1990-8644.

The teaching of national history in correspondence with the locality where the course takes place demands a unique didactic alternative. Bringing the content of local history to the communicative scenario in which young people seek different ways to interact with knowledge and information constituted the central theme of applied pedagogical research at the University of Medical Sciences of Cienfuegos. A differentiated work was carried out with local history, inserted into the national one, combining the in-person scenario with the virtual scenario. The objective of the article was to evaluate the effect of a didactic alternative to bring the teaching of local history to the communicative scenario where young people interact. An initial diagnosis showed that 65.2% of the students surveyed could not make a comment about the history of their locality. The identified problem was contrasted through a broad search that covered national and international academic discourse. It was demonstrated that a coherent didactic alternative supported by the link between the in-person and the virtual, bringing local history to the communicative scenario where young people seek different ways of interacting transformed the 65.2% of uncertainty reflected in the initial diagnosis of the research.
