Abstract

As part of a research study aimed at facing the development of mechanized pruning of this crop, it is essential to have a set of data that needs to be determined experimentally. In Guava stem breakage during harvesting and presentation during the fruiting period are major flaws in some cultivars. These defects are related to the physical-mechanical properties of the wood, such as density or rigidity, characterized by a parameter used in the resistance of materials: Such modulus of elasticity (MOE) (torsion and bending limit creep), Poisson’s ratio, making up the tree. The determination of this property is determined by the branches of the trees themselves as a basis for experimental transmission studies for mechanized pruning trees in these varieties.
