Abstract

RUIZ ORTIZ, Lidia et al. Experiences of distance postgraduate school in times of covid-19. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.6, pp. 661-670.  Epub Dec 10, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.

The context generated by COVID-19 imposed a challenge and was an opportunity to give continuity to the postgraduate studies of professionals. This paper describes the organizational and methodological experience in the development of the first Distance Graduate School of the University of Informatics Sciences, which took into account the Distance Education Model of Cuban Higher Education. The organization and development of the School was structured in five stages: general design, preparation of the courses, announcement and enrollment, development of the courses and evaluation of the results. The event was carried out successfully despite the difficult circumstances of facing the pandemic, time and technological limitations, and the little experience of a large part of the faculty in this type of education. Eighteen courses were developed and 418 students graduated from them with a high level of satisfaction, evidenced in the survey applied to 83% of graduates. Eighty percent of the faculty contributed lessons learned and identified opportunities for improvement. This experience could be a reference and can be applied in the organization of other postgraduate schools.

Keywords : Distance education; postgraduate education; summer courses.
