Abstract
GOMEZ CANO, Carlos Alberto; SANCHEZ CASTILLO, Verenice and POLANIA, Libardo Ramón. Categorization of research groups and researchers within the national system of science, technology, and innovation in Colombia. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.5, pp. 133-142. High-quality accreditation in universities is vital for achieving academic prestige. In this context, the recognition of research groups and faculty researchers within the National System of Science, Technology, and Innovation (SNCTeI) is essential. This study aimed to identify constraints in the categorization of research groups and faculty researchers in the Business Administration program at the Amazon University in relation to the SNCTeI. A mixed-methods, non-experimental, observational, and descriptive approach was employed. The findings encompassed three areas: constraints for research groups, limitations in researcher classification, and faculty perceptions concerning their activities and their work's impact. The conclusions underscore the necessity of fostering a research-oriented culture within the program, as research outputs, crucial for categorization, stem from collaborative processes involving faculty, administrators, and students. In essence, it is imperative that the program, through strategic initiatives, cultivates a research ecosystem that supports the development of indicators, enabling its consolidation at a national level.
