Abstract

CAMPOS-SOFIA, Melek et al. Effect of magnetic treatment on physical-chemical parameters of oil samples. RTQ [online]. 2015, vol.35, n.3, pp. 271-281. ISSN 2224-6185.

This paper presents a study of the physical-chemical parameters of crude CPNM-1400 and M-30 that were measured before and after magnetic treatment; in order to evaluate the effect of a static magnetic field on said parameters. Passing oil sample M-30 by a magnetic conditioner 0.4550 ± 0.009 T, is able to separate up to 52.8% of the water present in the sample. No evidence of the influence of magnetic treatment on the viscosity or rheological behavior during the study samples. Separation of water for national crude CPNM-1400, under the experimental conditions was not achieved. These results constitute the starting point for proposing the use of magnetic therapy as a new economic method of breaking emulsions of water and crude M-30, or raw with similar characteristics, without changing the normal operation of a station.

Keywords : petroleum; water separation; physico-chemical characteristics; magnetic field.
