Abstract

RODRIGUEZ GARCIA, Olimpia; SOCORRO VILLAVEIRAN, Carmen  and  CRUZ MARTI, Niurys. Valoración de la educación en el trabajo y la estancia práctica de Enfermería en dos áreas de salud. Educ Med Super [online]. 2002, vol.16, n.2, pp. 140-149. ISSN 0864-2141.

A descriptive study to identify some of the difficulties faced by the first year students of the nursing career at the university, who participate in the clinical area at the primary health care in Playa municipality, was carried out. Some of these difficulties are subjective like lack of incentive on the part of the healthcare personnel and students alike whereas others are objective, for example, some health care team members do not pay due attention to the students, all of which resulted in non-fulfillment of instructional and educational objectives included in the medical curricula. A group of actions was further developed to solve the eradicate the detected problems. A survey was administered to 35 out of 41 students officially registered. A number of items collected their criteria about attention at primary and secondary levels of medical care. It was revealed that the nursing staff of the health areas where the students did their practice had paid little attention to them and also defficiencies in the curricula that do not cover the development of enough practical skills in subject General Nursing I, which in fact discourage students who are not prepared yet for implementing techniques inherent to this profession that are indeed taught in the second year of the career.
