Abstract

DIAZ FARINAS, Lázaro. Critical Analysis of the Economic Development Structuralist Conception in the Thought of Felipe Pazos (1935-1962). Econ. y Desarrollo [online]. 2015, vol.155, n.2, pp.18-32. ISSN ISSN.

The present paper summarizes the main results of the author's PhD thesis, "A critical analysis of the structuralist conception of economic development in the thought of Felipe Pazos (1935-1962)". It exposes the historical context of the Pazos's thought, mainly affected by the establishment, rising, and crisis of the neocolonial model and its reflection on the social relations of production. It includes the theoretical and epistemological aspects which are determinant in his theoretical conception, his scientific appropriation on Keynesianism, Marxism, and Structuralism. And, finally, it presents the relation between economic thought and practice policy, the creation of the National Bank of Cuba (CNB), the policy instruments used, as well as other relevant aspects of his work as an economist and politician during the fifties and until 1962, when he split directly from the actions of the Cuban economy and transits to the field of counter-revolution.

Keywords : national bourgeoisie; structuralism; neocolonialism; oligarchy; reformism.
