Abstract

PEREZ, Arelis Rosalen Mora  and  MONDEJAR, Wiliam Hernández. Sociodemographic Panorama from Aged Population. Holguín Province, 2012. UH [online]. 2019, n.288, pp. 80-90.  Epub July 10, 2019. ISSN 0253-9276.

The demographic aging process in eastern Cuba has been less accelerated than in the rest of the country's territories; however, it does not translate with the same regularity in all its provinces. The work aims to characterize the dynamics of the human settlements system in the province of Holguin and explore the characteristics and differentials of the aging population, taking as an essential source of information the Population and Housing Census (CPV) of Cuba in 2012. Develops a sociodemographic characterization of the aging population and of the dwellings where they reside according to human settlements of the territory. It is noted that the demographic structure of the scattered farmhouses and settlements of the province is more aged than the rest of the categories. There is a certain correspondence between the spatial distributions of the highest frequencies of older adults, with the condition of being economically active.

Keywords : Holguín Province; Aged Population; Human Settlements; Spatial Distribution.
