Abstract

PAZ RADA, Eduardo. Bolivia: Geopolitics, Regional Integration and International Relations (2006-2019). UH [online]. 2020, n.290, pp.158-194.  Epub Nov 01, 2020. ISSN 0253-9276.

This work delves into the major changes that have taken place in the 21st century on the global geopolitical and geoeconomic chessboard and into the dynamics of the integration processes of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, which advanced on principles that are opposed to those formulated by U.S. policies. It analyzes how this situation has reached an extreme situation, with strong political tensions and disputes over the strategic orientations that projects such as CELAC, UNASUR, ALBA, MERCOSUR, CAN and/or Pacific Alliance should have, in five of which Bolivia participates. In this context and during the last fifteen years of the government of Evo Morales Ayma, this country has stood out for a set of initiatives that have become part of the agenda of international organizations, social movements, world forums of alternative organizations of society, bilateral meetings and regional integration processes under the principles of South-South cooperation.

Keywords : Latin America; Bolivia; geopolitics; integration; international relations.
