Abstract

OBJECTIVE: to know the criteria of the "Sofiel Riverón" Polyclinic Faculty students related to the New Program of Training for Latin American physicians (NPTLAP). METHODS: we made a descriptive and cross-sectional study intended to know criterion on NPTLAP, from the student's perspective in the "Sofiel Riverón López" Polyclinic Faculty, located in Jaguey Grande Municipality, Matanzas province, Cuba during the first semester of 2007. RESULTS: relevance, type of professor, and learning resources yielded a high level of satisfaction in more than 80% of students. In the case of educational model and the teaching scenarios, a qualification of excellent was given by more than 60%. Interestingly, the 95% of students qualified of excellent the performance of professors. There were some critical criteria related to quality of teaching practice, learning resources, and the infrastructure. CONCLUSIONS: we conclude that most of curricular elements and the explored teaching nucleus have a positive assessment by NPTALP students.
