Abstract

PARDO-GOMEZ, Rafael. Energy dissipation - part V: conical valves or of hollow jet. riha [online]. 2019, vol.40, n.1, pp. 95-109. ISSN 1680-0338.

The present article is the fifth of a series of seven, all relatives to the energy dissipators that can be used in hydraulic works. The whole group of these articles conform a monograph about the subject that was prepared by the author, concluding it by the middle of the 2017 year and later on incorporating it into a new edition - in preparation - of the textbook "Spillways and Intake Structures". This fifth article is a detailed presentation about the conical valves, also called hollow jet valves, employed with the function of energy dissipation, for which very frequently is required the employment of a structure or basin inside which this valve is placed.

Keywords : dissipation basin; convergent walls; dissipation pool; conical valve; helmet.
