Abstract

DOA estimation is one of the main problems to solve in modern communications. This article exhibits an approach to Smart Antenna Systems and the theoretical elements referred to the DOA estimation, its models and equations. It makes a study the classical methods, and it deepens in a novel methods based on Neural Networks. Then it traces a methodology for obtaining the results, from measurable parameters in each of the estimation algorithms under comparison. Finally, it analyzes the results and intends to apply techniques based in Neural Network to improve the estimation of DOA in Smart Antennas.
