Abstract

RODRIGUEZ-MOLINER, Tania; JACAS-CABRERA, Mario; MARTINEZ-ANEIRO, Federico  and  GARCIA-MUNOZ, Yaquelín. Influence of cutting parameters on the thickness of the secondary-plastic-deformation zone. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2010, vol.13, n.3, pp. 56-63. ISSN 1815-5944.

The aim of this paper is to study the influence of the cutting parameters in the thickness of the secondary plastic deformation zone (ezdps), for nano-layered (TiN/TiAlN) cutting tools. The results have been compared with the ones obtained for a conventional cutting tool. The results show the effects of cutting speed, cut thickness and advance speed on the ezdps. The ezdps increases as the cut thickness, and advance speed increases. The effect of the cutting speed is contrary to the others. These results agree with the trend obtained by previous investigators, although the values obtained for the nano-layered-coated cutting tool are lower than with conventional tools.

Keywords : secondary plastic deformation; chip; cutting metals; nano-layered-coated cutting tool.
