Abstract
BOMBINO-MATOS, Eugenio F. et al. Organization in layer form of porous biomass particles during ascending swirling movement. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2019, vol.22, n.2, pp. 108-114. Epub Aug 01, 2019. ISSN 1815-5944.
During the movement of capillary biomass, within a called Column for Upward Spiral Movement, the particles pile up in the form of a layer due to the action of the centrifugal force. The objective was to determine the thickness of material layer that was visualized, through a called active flow Zone. The air speed and pressure drop values were experimentally obtained, and trough images, processing by Particle Image Velocimetry for MATLAB (PIV) program, was determined the particles velocity. Subsequently, by comparison with simulations values, were determined the porosity and thickness corresponding to each formed particles layer and was analytically deduced the general equation to determine the thickness of the particles layer formed during this kind of movement.
