Abstract

GONZALEZ JOVA, José; ABREUS MORA, Jorge Luis; GONZALEZ CURBELO, Vivian Bárbara  and  SORIA, Antonio Héctor Suárez del Villar. Multidirectional stretch test to detect alterations of the physical capacity balance in active older adults. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.2, pp. 87-93.  Epub Apr 02, 2020. ISSN 2218-3620.

The functional evaluation of adult individuals has always established many standards, which allows selecting the most efficient and efficient tests and scales to know the state of this population before influencing actions to restore impaired functions. The objective of this work is to evaluate the equilibrium capacity, through the Multidirectional Stretch Test test, in active older adults, of the Grandparents Circles of the Combinado Deportivo 4, Cienfuegos. The sample was of 20 older adults of a population of 200, was selected through a probabilistic, stratified sampling where the strata are made up of the Grandfather Circles of the Sports Combined. 40% were male and 70% were in the group of 70 years and over. The statistical procedure was carried out by means of a descriptive analysis of frequencies and percentages of the designed variables. The relationship between the age and sex variables was verified by Pearson's Chi-Square test. The result of the diagnosis showed that 90% presents difficulties with balance, which affects walking difficulties, that 100% suffer from at least one disease with 65% of visual problems. The test allowed the determination of the main motor alterations focused on the misuse of the orthostatic strategies and provided information on the misuse of the area of stability of the elderly. It was concluded that the main motor alterations focus on: the poor use of orthostatic strategies (malleolar, coxal and foot) and the dimensions of the stability area.

Keywords : Multidirectional stretching; balance disorders; elderly.
