Abstract

MANTILLA, Jorge  and  VERCOUTERE QUINCHE, Tamia. Bibliometric and contextual analysis on scientific production concerning Sumak Kawsay in Scopus. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.3, pp. 321-332.  Epub June 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.

In this article, a bibliometric analysis is developed on how the academy of this country has approached this notion. Methodologically, the analysis was developed using the bibliometrix package in R on the publications of authors with affiliation in Ecuadorian institutions within the Scopus academic database. The analysis shows that interest in this concept is linked to the ups and downs of the country's political sphere, rather than to social reality. Likewise, it is shown that, although several defenders of the concept have suggested that sumak kawsay is inspired by the knowledge of indigenous peoples, in the academy the vision from these peoples is not present. Finally, the internationalization and thematic diversity processes associated with sumak kawsay are shown.

Keywords : Sumak kawsay; indigenous peoples; bibliometric analysis.
