Currently, tourism is recognized as one of the main drivers of development in the territories, it promotes both governments, as well as private and public entities, programs and activities with an emphasis on local development. In this sense, tourism activity favors the economic growth of communities by contributing to the generation of jobs, positively impacting places and people's quality of life. Based on bibliometric indicators and bibliographic characteristics observed in scientific and academic documents published in the period 2013 to 2022, the present study is obtained, which shows a descriptive analysis of original materials published in recognized databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect and Scielo. Bibliometric analysis was developed to describe the relationship between tourism activity and local development from scientific production. To achieve this, theoretical and empirical methods were combined, integrated with techniques and tools with a view to the subsequent foundation of a concept of integrated management of tourism activity and its contribution to local development.
